In a special event held at Bombay, Huawei has announced the world’s first 7 inch Android 3.2 tablet. Named as the Huawei MediPad is one of the most premium looking tablet in the segment. The tablet has good finish and feels great in hands. We spent a few hours playing with it and we were really impressed with its design and performance. When most companies gives you plastic enclosure for the tab, Huawei has not only given metallic finish, but they also added some praise worthy design. Here, check out some of the images we captured.
The metallic ridges with the iPhone like cuts is really impressive. As you can see in the picture, you can see premium feel written all over it.
The metallic ridge is accompanied with switches and ports on most sides. On the right side, you have the power button and volume rockr buttons. At the bottom, you have the micro USB port, micro HDMI port and power port for charging the device. The left side is free with no ports or switches. On top, you have the stereo speakers and headphone jack.
The display is one of the finest we’ve seen. With 1280X720 resolutions and 217ppi, everything on the screen looked clear and vivid. Be it games, apps or just web browsing. Videos looked amazing on the screen and it surprised us to know that it supported 1080p video playback. The 7inch screen may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but there are plenty of people who wants a 7 inch tablet mainly because its portable and easy for handling. The 1.2Ghz dual core processor, 1GB of RAM keeps all applications running smooth without any compromise on speed. The 5MP camera on the back and 1.3MP camera on the front is a major plus. Even, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 has only 3.2MP camera at the back although its front camera is 2MP. Huawei has also managed to fit in a good battery on the device. With 4100mAh, the Mediapad should get you through of day of tasks easily.
Huawei also announced two phones at the event with integrated cloud services. Huawei’s cloud service as they call it the Cloud+ has some stand out features like 16GB free storage which is a lot more than what an iCloud user gets. The cloud service is highly integrated into your phone to improve your Android experience. It offers instant backups via 3G and WiFi. Once can also opt to schedule backups for a later convenient time to save the battery. The service also has find my phone feature. Once the user logins to hicloud.com, he can see where his phone is and send a message to it so that it gets displayed on it. Or simply choose to wipe the data on it or just lock it. These are some great features that phones at mid range can offer. As for the backup, everything from your phone like your sms, call lists, images, videos etc are backed up. The thumbnails backed up images appear in your gallery along with other local files which is a nice touch. Huawei also has new social software integrated. Named as the Huawei stream, it offers one stop place for your Facebook chats, twitter and Linkedin connections.
Huawei also announced their Ideos X3 comes with a 3.2inch display with 180ppi, Android 2.3, 600Mhz processor, 256MB RAM, 3.2MP camera, a secondary camera for video calls, HSDPA connectivity, WiFi b//g/n, 1200mAh battery etc. This phone retails for Rs10,000/- approx.
